In collaboration with Alexandra Franke, we founded weissraum in the third semester of our integrated design degree programme. The idea arose from the desire to create a space that could serve students as a studio and exhibition space, thus revitalising the vacant space in Dessau's city centre. In this way, weissraum brings the university and the city closer together and promotes exchange with the local population through creative activity. Together with the Anhaltischer Kunstverein, Kunsthalle Dessau and Café Schillig, we occupied unused spaces and revitalised them through exchange and works from the creative scene. The student initiative continues this cultural exchange to this day. Alongside writing concepts and meeting with public sector stakeholders in Dessau, we created a corporate identity that included flyers, posters, business cards, as well as a custom typeface that resonated with the group's visual identity. We also created a miniature version of an exhibition space, which ended up being used in some social media advertisements. The events turned out to be well received and well attended, and the initiative is now being carried on by other students in Dessau.
